Verify the record, match the object, inspect the holder and preserve the evidence.

Treat unavailable or mismatched records as a stop signal

Match every detail

Date, denomination, variety, grade, measurements, weight and comments should agree with the physical object.

Compare label text character by character
Match photographs when available
Investigate any discrepancy before proceeding

Inspect security and integrity

Holder construction, seams, holograms, fonts, labels and tamper evidence can reveal substitution or counterfeit packaging.

Study current issuer security features
Check for opening or resealing
Do not rely on a copied certification number

Document chain of custody

Invoices, prior listings, high-resolution photographs and ownership records strengthen provenance and help resolve later questions.
