Why can two coins with the same grade sell far apart?
Eye appeal, strike, surface originality, toning, variety, holder generation, provenance and the strength of the specific auction can all affect demand.
Should a raw coin be cleaned before submission?
Usually no. Cleaning can permanently change surfaces and reduce collectibility. Conservation should be cautious, evidence-based and performed only when appropriate.
Does every error or die crack add value?
No. The feature must be correctly identified, recognized and wanted by collectors. Visibility, rarity and demand matter more than novelty alone.
